Man set on fire to be charged by Police with possession of a dangerous fire “arm”

A man who accidentally set his arm on fire in a smoking accident is to be charged by Victorian police with possession of a dangerous firearm as well facing a hefty fine for breaching curfew. Police were inundated with calls at around 10 pm last night from nearby residents stating a man was running past their window with his left arm on fire and needed assistance.

As it was past curfew the police felt they needed to investigate and arrested the man shortly after 9pm Wednesday evening. The Melbourne man says he had gone out the front of his house and was lighting a cigarette when his shirt sleeve accidentally caught on fire. Police were able to extinguish the flames by throwing him and tackling him on the ground.
