Couple to tow caravan around Australia at 80km/hr just to “p#ss people off”

“We bought the Landcruiser so we can have enough power to accelerate when someone wants to try and get past”

When stuck for an idea on what to do during their older years, one retiree couple has decided to buy a caravan and drive around Australia. While this may seem normal, Bob and Barbara promise to do 20 km under the speed limit wherever they go.

When asked why they said they were starting to become bored with retirement and were “just trying to think of ways to just piss people off” says Bob. “we can remember being young, driving to visit our parents in the Hunter valley and getting stuck behind some twat towing a caravan for about 60K’s and doin’ 80 in a hundred zone. It was really annoying. Now we are retired, we feel it’s our time to give back”

Bob claims that they bought the $90 thousand dollar’ Toyota Landcruiser so they still had a bit of power when approaching overtaking lanes and can accelerate just enough for when someone wants to try and get past. The 8.4-meter caravan, which boasts a separate toilet and shower, Dinette style leather seats, wind down stabilizer legs, and a full-size robe. When quizzed on doing it in style, Barb claims that they aren’t actually going to sleep in it, we are just going to tow it around. “We will be staying in hotels along the way”

Their route will start at their home in Sydney’s northern beaches where they will first head south to Canberra and will slowly make their way to Kununurra in Western Australia over the course of the year. “it’s amazing how things come around, once upon a time we were the ones getting frustrated on the roads and now it’s our turn. We can’t wait to get on the road” says Barb
